He called me "mommy poo-poo" one Sunday when I was helping in the 4&5 year old chapel. Needless to say, the other kids laughed and began repeating it. *sigh*

Oh, and we don't even use the word underpants, he doesn't watch SpongeBob (the only place I can think of that he might have heard that word), so no telling where he got it from.Stacey Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14352989875183758588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2195445566768220526.post-11694818726890386202013-05-17T11:14:36.217-07:002013-05-17T11:14:36.217-07:00I hear ya! :). The "underpants" thing is...I hear ya! :). The "underpants" thing is hysterical! It's funny the stuff that will soak into kids minds. My almost 3yr. old has learned all of her letters and numbers from going on walks around the neighborhood, and asking lots of questions. She reads all the numbers off of mailboxes and all the letters off of street signs. I think being an avid Wheel Of Fortune watcher helped with her letters too. ;). I don't want to go in the wrong direction with the "Stranger Danger" talk and be back to square one again. I just need to find that happy medium! :). That's great about your son! :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16188194573611641036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2195445566768220526.post-61750616145690787652013-05-17T09:10:28.869-07:002013-05-17T09:10:28.869-07:00I could have written this post myself! Our almost-...I could have written this post myself! Our almost-five-year-old was petrified of anyone talking to him, or looking his way, even people he knew. If a stranger said hi, you'd think a monster was out to get him. About six weeks ago, all of that changed. He goes up to random people, generally employees at places, and hugs their legs. If they are female, he may kiss their hand (a check-out lady at Lowe's declared she would never wash her hand again after Thomas kissed it).

We are glad he is out of his shell, but what a turn-around! You add to the mix that he throws out random words when he says hi or bye (currently the word "underpants"), then his loving on strangers becomes even more awkward. We are trying to strike a balance between being overly shy and overly outgoing, but I'm not sure he'd understand the stranger danger talk just yet. I mean, this is a kid who talks about how cute snakes and sharks are and how he wants to hug and kiss them. We do have snakes around here; I am terrified of what he will do when he actually sees one. If he's that compassionate towards creatures that could hurt him, I'm not sure he'd understand that not all humans are nice when none have ever hurt him, you know?Stacey Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14352989875183758588noreply@blogger.com
